Every Referee Society in the UK is almost always short of referees, and unable to cover every game in its area. As a Society we always welcome new members.

So recruitment is one of our key priorities: if you would like to referee, you'll be guaranteed:

  • the best seat in the house!
  • the undying gratitude of players and spectators
  • an enjoyable and satisfying experience
  • no more shopping on Saturday Afternoons

Please contact our Recruitment & Retention Officer or our Chairman should you have any questions or require further information.

Unqualified Referees

If you would like to become a referee, then you will need to have completed at least your England Rugby Referee Award (Formerly the Level 2 - Refereeing the 15-a-side game Award)

Click here to see several short videos produced by the RFU on the content of the course, how it is taught and your first steps towards becoming a Rugby Referee.

Level 2 or ERRA Referees

If you have completed your Level 2 - Refereeing the 15-a-Side Game Award or the new England Rugby Refereeing Award, then NLDRFURS will give you your first seasons membership free of charge, and will assist you in becoming a fully-qualified Society Referee. Please download and complete an application form and return it to the address on the form.

Qualified Referees

If you have already qualified as a referee and would like to join then the first step is simple: download the Application Form below and complete it.
